The Light Within is the fundamental and immediate experience for Friends. It is that which guides each of us in our everyday lives and brings us together as a community of faith. It is, most importantly, our direct and unmediated experience in the Divine.

                                                                       --Faith & Practice

We, at Downingtown Friends Meeting, strive to be a loving, nurturing community, encouraging each person to find his or her true voice through their experiences. As Quakers, we listen deeply to the Spirit and to each other as we seek the Light Within while believing in and practicing non-violence.

We gather each First Day (Sunday) in silent, expectant waiting at Meeting for Worship in our 200-year-old Meeting House, holding ourselves open to the Light while reaching for the divine center of our being. This we know to be a place of love and peace where we are at one with the universe and with each other.

From experience we know that revelation is ongoing. The divine power, which we call God or the Light, continues to work at guiding, healing, and transforming the world today. It’s the true nature of this power, love, that draws us together in a life of simplicity, integrity, and peace.
